Extremely disappointing experience. I initially agreed on a fee with this solicitor for my property matter. When I attended the first meeting to discuss the property and the transaction we had already agreed she would handle, I was later charged a separate advice fee for that meeting. I personally found this unfair, as the meeting was directly related to the same matter for which we had already agreed on professional fees. For comparison, when I later moved to another solicitor, I was not separately charged in this way for discussing the matter they were engaged to handle. The handling of the tender deadline was also very frustrating. My tender was approaching expiry, and I was advised to obtain an extension. Then, only one day before the extension was due to expire, I was informed that the agreed fee would be increased by approximately 33% from the original amount. This timing left me in an extremely difficult position because I had almost no time to find and properly instruct another solicitor before the extended deadline expired. Communication was another major concern. During the process, I was given the impression that emails and communications were being exchanged with the other side. However, when I contacted the other side directly, I was told that they had not received those emails from her. I was also told that they had been emailing her and were not receiving responses. I am only stating what I personally experienced and what was communicated to me during the transaction. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the communication, unexpected additional charges, significant fee increase and, particularly, the timing of that increase. I ultimately changed solicitors, and my experience with the new solicitor has been very different. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service. I strongly suggest getting the complete fee structure, what is and is not included, any separate advice charges, and all potential additional fees confirmed clearly in writing before proceeding.
